The Garden Dog Hotdog was a standout for me – fresh, delicious, and perfectly seasoned, making it a great option for vegetarians or anyone seeking a lighter take on the classic hotdog experience. The Garden Salad was another hit – crisp greens, fresh toppings, and a delightful dressing that tied it all together beautifully. Now, let’s talk about dessert! Portillo’s is known for their sweet treats, and they did not disappoint. We tried the Chocolate Cake Shake, and it was rich, creamy, and full of real cake pieces – a decadent must-have. The Chocolate Cake itself was moist, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and an absolute crowd-pleaser. The Salted Caramel Spice Cake added a delightful mix of flavors, with a hint of spice and a perfect touch of salty caramel that elevated the dessert game. Finally, the Chocolate Eclair Cake was smooth, luscious, and the perfect finish to an incredible meal. Overall, our visit to Portillo’s was memorable, with delicious food, mouthwatering desserts, and a great dining atmosphere. “ Just occurred to me that I never left a shining review for the famed Chicago grill at this location. Guess I got used to going to the Gurnee location which is much closer to home in Beach Park. That's always been the strong point at Portillo's is when it comes to Chicago style grub, they can't go wrong here and everything or anything you eat here is high quality. Food has always been delicious whether it's their Chicago dog, big beef dipped, a burger or Maxwell St. Polish; absolutely nothing here ever disappoints. Prices have gone up especially after COVID but I don't mind a little Portillo's once in a while. The venue with the old school vibe is always kept clean, customer service is always friendly and no matter how many vehicles are in the drive thru at any given time; they work fast to get you outta there in no time! ”

“ First time having a true Chicago style dog and I loved it. Coming from the south it’s completely different from the way we eat hot dogs. The meat in the Portillo’s dog is nothing like a regular store bought hot dog. With everything they put on it, and the meat, the flavors all come together. We also got the Maxwell sausage dog and its onions and it was super good. Update: Came in for the second time and ordered the Croissant Italian beef & cheddar. Absolutely NOT what is advertised and pictured on the website vs what I received. I actually ordered the original sandwich and took it back to the counter because the bread was so soggy I couldn’t pick it up. I got another sandwich in its place which you can see in my pics....I hardly ever post a bad reviews but this sandwhich was terrible and totally not what is shown in the pictures....I added the beef and cheddar pic from Portillo’s website vs what I received...I’ll go to Arby’s for a beef and cheddar next time because it’s exactly what is advertised on their website. ”

“ Drove in from Michigan for work and needed something to eat late, at first I was skeptical because the drive-thru line was pretty long and I figured it would take a long time but boy was I wrong. I ordered the chicago dog (my first one ever btw), the Italian beef sandwich with sweet and hot peppers, onion rings and fries. Everything was delicious, I beat myself up for not eating a chicago dog sooner but glad this was my first one and the Italian beef sandwich was so good I could not stop eating it. By the end of the meal I had a couple fries left and a few onion rings the only thing I wished was I would have gotten a sauce for the rings and fries other than that it was a 10/10 I will be back again before I go back home. ”
